Frenulum that is too short

Some men experience pain during masturbation or penetration. A common cause of this is a frenulum that is too short. Because of this restricted connection, the foreskin cannot move smoothly over the glans, which can lead to pain. It may also happen that the frenulum tears during masturbation or other sexual activities, often resulting in bleeding and pain.

Fortunately, there is a solution for men with a frenulum that is too short. The frenulum can be incised or cut in a procedure called a frenulotomy. Although this may sound serious, it is a commonly performed procedure and is not considered highly invasive.

The doctor first cleans the penis with alcohol and then administers a local anaesthetic. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, the frenulum is cut.

Cutting the frenulum yourself
